Picking up my old yo-yo tricks after decades felt like magic

I found my old yo-yo in a box while cleaning the attic. It brought back memories of trying to learn tricks as a kid. I decided to see if I could still do some moves. After a few hours of practice, I nailed the 'around the world' trick. It was a small win, but it made me smile all day. Remembering how hard it was back then made this feel special. Now I'm thinking of teaching my nephew how to do it.

Yo that's honestly wild how stuff comes back to you. When you were trying the old moves, which trick surprised you the most by how quickly it came back? I feel like some of that muscle memory is locked in a vault but you forget the key for other random skills. Was it just the basics or did any of the harder ones suddenly click too?

That's awesome to hear. Muscle memory is a funny thing, it really does stick with you. Starting your nephew with the basic sleeper and walk the dog moves is the way to go, they build the foundation for everything else. The satisfaction of getting a trick back after so long is a great feeling for sure. Kids usually pick it up way faster than we did, so it'll be fun for both of you. Just be ready for him to probably master it and move on to harder stuff before you know it.

Remember thinking yo-yo tricks would make you cool, but now you're just a grown adult weirdly proud of not hitting yourself.
