My dad's old truck had a feature I can't find any proof of

When I was a kid, my dad had a red pickup truck with a button under the dash that made the lights flash. I remember pressing it all the time. Recently, I asked him about it, and he said it never had that feature. I checked online for the model, and there's no record of it. This memory is so clear, but it doesn't match reality. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I want to know how to deal with these false memories.

Weird how brains do that! I just write mine down and move on.

Man, I could never just write it down and move on like that. For me, writing it down is actually the first step of getting stuck on it. I'll put the thought on paper, but then my brain just keeps circling back to pick it up again. It's like the note makes it more real, not less. So instead of moving on, I end up staring at the physical proof of my own weird idea.

Actually, writing it down is supposed to help you let go of the thought (that's the whole point of brain dumping, you know). But if it's making things worse, maybe you're not writing it down the right way. Try scribbling it on a scrap paper and then physically throwing it away, like tossing the thought out. It sounds silly, but the act of destroying the note can trick your brain into moving on. Sometimes our brains need that extra push to stop circling back.
