A trick from my local café's window job makes moving big glass easier

They were replacing the front glass and I saw the crew use suction cups with hockey tape wrapped around the handles. It gives you a much firmer hold, especially if your hands are sweaty. I used this on a residential install and it prevented the glass from shifting during placement.

Actually that hockey tape trick seems like a bad idea to me. The adhesive can leave a real mess on the handles over time. It might even make the grip worse once the tape gets old and slick. Proper grippy work gloves are a much safer bet for handling heavy glass.

In my workshop, hockey tape on glass handles has never left adhesive behind when I change it yearly. The texture stays rough even after months of use, unlike some gloves that pack down and lose grip. For wet conditions, tape gives a sure hold because it bonds to your skin slightly. It's a five dollar fix that outlasts pricier gloves.

My dad used inner tubes for bike handles, grip was insane.
