Figuring out why my shellac was peeling led me back to old school prep.

Used to skip the grain filler step. Now I never do, and my finishes last years longer.

Yeah, skipping it was basically my habit for years... I only changed when I saw how much better it got. Now I look forward to it every time.

Is skipping really so bad? Take those long video intros... after a while, you've heard the song a thousand times. @rubys80, skipping gets you to the content faster. I used to skip the news segment because it was always depressing. Now I just read the headlines online. It's about choosing what deserves your attention.
