Found a 1993 grocery list in a cookbook and spent an hour trying to price it out

I picked up an old Better Homes and Gardens cookbook at a yard sale in Akron. A faded list was tucked inside, with things like 'chuck roast $1.89/lb' and 'canned corn 4/$1'. I got curious and spent a full hour at my computer comparing those prices to today's. A simple roast that cost under three bucks then is over six now. Has anyone else done this and felt that weird time warp?

And here I was feeling fancy for splurging on the $4.99/lb chuck roast last week, only to find out my grandma probably paid less for an entire cow back then. That canned corn deal at 4 for a dollar really stings though, considering I just paid $1.29 for one can at the local market. I guess inflation is just a fancy way of saying food companies want me to eat beans and rice forever.

That chuck roast price is a gut punch, lol.
