PSA: My old way of storing ranunculus corms was a total fail

I kept them in a paper bag in the back of the cooler, like I did for years, and lost about 60% to mold last season. It took me three months of trial and error, plus a chat with a grower at the state flower show, to finally get a proper dry, dark storage system dialed in. Anyone have a specific humidity percentage they swear by for long-term corm storage?

Try storing them in dry peat moss. It wicks away moisture way better than wood shavings. I haven't lost a single corm since I switched.

Wait, you actually keep them at 50% humidity? That seems way too high for corms, I'd be scared of rot setting in. I keep mine bone dry in a paper bag in the garage, like dust dry. How long have yours lasted like that?

Proper dry, dark storage system" is key. I aim for 50% humidity in a mesh bag with some wood shavings.
