Read a study from the University of Florida that said 70% of moisture-related flooring failures happen from the subfloor side, not the room air. Always thought humidity control was the main fight.

Actually the study says it's both, but moisture from below is the bigger problem.

Yeah, that tracks with what I found in my old house. We kept fighting the air and it never really worked. The fix was pulling up a corner of the laminate and finding a concrete slab that was basically sweating. Sealed it with a proper moisture barrier underneath a new foam underlayment, which felt like overkill at the time. But it was the only thing that finally stopped the buckling for good. All that work on room humidity felt pointless after that.

Huh, that's a huge shift in thinking. So the real battle is under the floor, not in the room. Did the study point to specific subfloor types or common installation mistakes causing this? I've always just blamed the air in the room.
