My crew in Tampa still thinks I'm nuts for using a 3/4 inch trowel on that glue down job last week
Everyone on site kept saying a 1/2 inch notch was plenty for that 5mm LVP plank, but I've seen too many hollow spots show up after six months with a shallow spread. I used a full gallon of adhesive per 40 square feet and the floor is dead solid now, no click or give anywhere. Has anyone else had a job come back to bite them because they skimped on the glue?

Wait, a full gallon per 40 square feet? That's a crazy amount of glue for that thin plank. You basically built an adhesive subfloor under there, which is a total nightmare to remove later.

Honestly sounds like overkill for 5mm LVP. That's a ton of glue and a huge notch. Most of the time, if the subfloor is prepped right, a half inch notch holds just fine. You might have just made a huge mess for the next guy who has to demo that floor.
