Heard a guy at the lumberyard say he always lets engineered hardwood sit for 72 hours, not 48, before installing.

He mentioned a job in a humid coastal town where a 48-hour acclimation still caused buckling, so now I'm wondering if anyone else adjusts their wait time based on the local climate.

Guy's onto something. Check the box, not just the calendar. Some brands print a lower moisture content target for install.

Exactly... and that lower target on the box can really mess with the warranty later. They'll say you installed it outside their specs, even if the room felt right. Makes you wonder how many callbacks are just from following the calendar instead of the actual product sheet.

Read a blog post from a guy in Florida who swears by a full week for anything with a laminate core. Said his meter never lies, even when the box says 48 hours.
