Showerthought: Everyone says to avoid bidding wars, but I got my place in Charlotte by offering $5k over asking right away.
The agent said it was aggressive, but the seller accepted within 12 hours because they hated the back-and-forth. Has anyone else found that playing it cool can actually cost you the house?

Is that really a bidding war though? Sounds like you just made a good offer.

Call it what you want, but the end result is the same. You pay more because other people want it. A good offer only works if no one else is willing to go higher.
