I used a different kind of post hole digger on a job in Spokane and it was a game changer
Last month I was putting in a cedar fence for a client and their ground was full of river rock. My normal auger just kept jamming. I borrowed a friend's manual clamshell digger with the serrated edges, thinking it would be slower. I got the first hole done in maybe 15 minutes, which was way faster than fighting the power tool. The serrated edges just cut through the small rocks like nothing. Now I keep one in my truck for rocky spots. Has anyone else found a better tool for rocky soil?

Right? Sometimes the simple tool wins.

Interesting, but my experience was the opposite. The clamshell just bounced off the bigger rocks here.
