Whoa, that's not a pinch, that's a full-on assault! @oscarc53, my grandma was the exact same way, her "dash" of pepper would make you sneeze for a week. I guess they just had a totally different idea of what those words meant. Do you think food just tasted saltier back then or something?

Wait, are we really acting like a teaspoon of salt in a whole pot of something is that dramatic? Let's be real, unless grandma was making a single serving of soup, that teaspoon got spread out across the whole dish. I've definitely accidentally dumped way more than a "pinch" of salt into a pot of chili and it turned out fine, just had to serve it with a big glass of water. Honestly, the real crime was probably the salt content in everything else we ate back then, not one recipe's measurements.
