Vent: My new $300 microcurrent device just fried a client's skin
Got a deal on a brand I hadn't heard of, used it on a regular for a facial contouring session. Her cheek got a red, hot patch that looked like a burn. Anyone know a good protocol for calming this down fast?

Used to think those off-brand deals were fine until a friend had a similar scare. What did the client's skin look like after the session?

My sister had a patch like that from a cheap LED mask. Sullivan.spencer is right, these off-brand incidents are happening more often. I would stop the device use and apply a cool compress immediately, not ice directly. Then a very basic gel with aloe or centella asiatica can help calm it down. Keep the area clean and tell your client to avoid any active ingredients until it fully heals.

Totally agree about avoiding actives while it heals. Makes me wonder if some of these devices have faulty timers or wrong wavelength settings. How long was your sister using the mask before she noticed the burn?
