Pro tip: check your extraction fans before taking on a spray tan client
Had a client come in last Tuesday for a full body spray tan. Started the session and the extraction fan in my room was barely pulling air. By the time she was done, the whole room was a cloud of mist. She ended up coughing and I had to refund her $60. Spent the next two hours airing out the space. Now I do a quick fan check every morning before anyone walks in. Anyone else run into equipment issues that killed a service?

Wait did you check if the filter was just clogged or if the motor itself was going bad? I had a similar thing happen with my nail dust collector last month where the filter looked clean but the fan blades were caked with product buildup and slowing everything down. Sometimes it's worth taking the whole unit apart and cleaning it with alcohol rather than just checking if it's spinning.

Ha, gotta love when your equipment decides to betray you mid-service. I had a similar moment with my airbrush compressor once, it started making this awful grinding noise right as I was doing a client's face. Had to stop, apologize, and finish with a regular brush. Nothing like that awkward silence while you're trying to figure out if you're about to lose a hundred bucks or just your sanity. Your fan check routine is smart, I now do a quick listen test on my compressor before every session too.
