A quick chat with a founder at a coffee shop made me rethink my whole networking plan
Honestly, I was at The Daily Grind in Austin last week and got talking with a founder who just sold her app. She said, 'I stopped going to big mixers six months ago and just started asking for one intro a week from people I already trust.' Tbh, that hit different because I've been forcing myself to three events a month, spending like $200 on tickets and feeling drained. She showed me her calendar where she had maybe four real, solid calls scheduled, all from warm intros. It made me think I'm chasing quantity over quality. Has anyone else made a switch like this and seen better results with their connections?

Switched to asking for two intros a month last year and it changed everything. My meetings went from being random coffee chats to actual talks with people who could hire me. Like, one intro led to a contract with a local design studio because my friend vouched for me hard. I was doing the event grind before and it just burned me out for no real payoff.

The Daily Grind story is wild because one intro a week seems way too simple to work. I get what @hayden144 is saying, it feels crazy low, but maybe that forces you to be super picky. I'm out here collecting business cards like they're going out of style and half those people don't even remember me. Four real calls from people who already want to talk to you sounds a lot better than twenty awkward handshakes.

Wait, she only asks for ONE intro a week? That feels crazy low (but maybe that's the whole point).
