PSA: I keep seeing guys skip the full door zone test on older Otis units.

I was working on a 1970s Otis in an office building last week and the door zone was just a hair off. The guy before me had signed off on it, but I ran the full test with a 2x4. It caught on the second pass. That extra five minutes can stop a door from closing on someone. Has anyone else found a specific test that gets skipped too often?

Absolutely! Reading out loud is the best trick. It forces you to process each word slowly. I even change the font sometimes before a final check, because it makes the text look new and mistakes pop out. That extra minute feels like a waste but it's the difference between looking sharp and making a silly error everyone sees.

Slow down and read everything out loud before you hit send. I caught a huge mistake that way last week, just by hearing how wrong it sounded. Sometimes your eyes see what they expect to see, not what's actually there. Taking that extra minute feels annoying but it saves so much trouble later.
