Tbh, my brother-in-law keeps saying drywall is for folks who can't frame. How do you handle it?

Yeah, "folks who can't frame"... sounds like my uncle who insisted real mechanics only use wrenches, never power tools. Some opinions are just background noise.

Oh man, that "real mechanics only use wrenches" idea hits home! I see this all the time in other hobbies too. My old boss always said real photographers only use manual focus, like autofocus was cheating somehow. It just makes things needlessly hard for people starting out because they feel bad for using tools that help. That attitude really does push beginners away instead of welcoming them. We should be happy anyone wants to learn a skill, not pick on how they do it!

Your uncle's wrenches-only view shows how some confuse tradition with skill. That mindset can limit what people create (since better tools often mean more possibilities). Is it about pride in suffering through the hard way, or fear that new methods make old skills worthless? I see this in lots of fields, where gatekeeping replaces real teaching. What drives that need to put down easier tools? It ends up pushing beginners away instead of helping them grow.
