Question about my last drywall job failing at the corner bead
I had a perfect corner bead install on a closet job in Cedar Rapids last Tuesday that just popped loose after one bump from a furniture mover, what do you guys use to secure it better?

I used to think any corner bead was fine as long as you nailed it in good, but then I had a closet job in Ankeny where the same thing happened after a light bump. Switching to using both screws and a dab of construction adhesive behind the bead before mudding really locked it down for me. Also, make sure you're using the right size nails or screws, not too small or they pull through.

Dang, that sucks. I'm always fighting with the damn screws pulling through on the paper faced stuff. You mention using adhesive - what kind are you talking about? Like a construction adhesive or just liquid nails? Because I've had trouble finding one that actually grabs onto the metal bead without getting all drippy and messy. I've tried a couple of the "general purpose" ones and they either take forever to set or turn into a hard brittle mess that cracks out after a week. Also, do you smear it on the back of the bead or just put a bead of it on the drywall before you nail? I wanna try this but I don't wanna make a bigger mess than I have to.

Oh man, that's frustrating! Did you use the right gauge screws or just whatever nails you had on hand? I've heard that matters more than people think for corner bead.
