My partner called in sick, the lift was broken, and I spent 8 hours on stilts with a 12-inch knife, but the finish was so clean the homeowner said it looked like one solid piece.

Taping a cathedral ceiling on stilts sounds like a special kind of torture. Your partner had some real good timing getting sick that day. At least the lift breaking saved you the trouble of figuring out which part of it was busted. That homeowner compliment is the only thing keeping that story from being a total nightmare.
