Bought a $40 Bluetooth OBD2 scanner and it was useless

Paid forty bucks for a scanner that claims to read every code but just gives me 'check engine' for a loose gas cap. Anyone else get burned by those cheap code readers?

Did you try pairing it with a different app first?

Oh come on, is it really that deep? I've been using the same app since day one and it works fine most of the time. People act like you gotta have a whole setup guide just to connect a simple device. If it doesn't work with your main app, maybe the issue is the hardware itself, not the app choice.

Tried switching apps like amy_coleman21 mentioned and it actually fixed my connection issue right away.
