Switched to a wider cutterhead on my last job. Honest thoughts?
Problem was the material kept clogging on a tight 24 inch channel. I tried the 36 inch head everyone talks down and it cut my cycle time by almost half. Anyone else run into this or is it just a waste of money?

I mean, I ran a 36 inch head on a job last spring and honestly felt like I was cheating or something. My 24 inch head would choke on a 22 inch channel every time, and I'd be standing there with a shovel for 20 minutes. Swapped to the wider one and it didn't even blink, just chewed through that stuff like a hungry dog. Maybe it's just me, but I think the people who talk down on the bigger head have never actually tried one in a tight spot. Idk, seems like a no-brainer for half the cycle time.

Have you ever thought about how the bigger head changes the whole weight balance on the mini? I ran a 36 on a demo job and my buddy's 24 felt like a toy after, my machine actually sat more stable when digging deep. Seems like the extra mass helps the machine dig harder without lifting the back end, which nobody talks about.

You ever notice that happens in other stuff too? I got a buddy who swears by a wide shovel for snow, says the narrow one just makes him work twice as hard for the same result. Same principle applies to mowing lawns, a bigger deck just eats the grass faster. It's like people are scared to go bigger because they think it'll be harder to handle, but really it just lets the tool do more of the work for you. Why wouldn't you want that?
