I keep seeing drafters use the wrong line weights for elevation callouts
Last week a new guy turned in a set where his hidden lines were thicker than his object lines, and the senior drafter made him redo the whole sheet. Has anyone else had to fix this mess from people who learned on CAD defaults?

The part about "hidden lines thicker than object lines" actually makes me wince because I've seen that too, but it's pretty common for new people to mix up line weights. The thing is, most CAD defaults set hidden lines way too light, not too heavy, so your new guy might have been trying to fix that on his own and just overshot it. I've had to teach people that hidden lines should be thinner than object lines, not the other way around, and usually half the weight or even less. Elevation callouts especially need a good contrast between the bold outline and the lighter hidden stuff underneath.

Set your plot style to force all hidden lines to a 0.18mm pen weight and save it as a template.
