Blew a deadline because my plotter settings were off by a millimeter
Last Wednesday I was printing a set of floor plans for a client build and didn't notice my plotter was set to 'fit to page' instead of 1:1 scale. Sent them off and the contractor called me an hour later asking why the walls were shrinking. Had to rush back to the office and reprint everything on my dime. Has anyone else had a scaling error mess up a whole print run?

Man, did that used to be me? I mean, I was always one of those guys who figured a millimeter here or there wouldn't really matter on a big print. Like, who's gonna pull out a ruler on a wall drawing, right? Then I had a job where I was printing custom cabinet layouts for a kitchen remodel and my settings were off by a hair. The carpenter built everything about an inch too narrow and it was a total disaster. Had to eat that cost and it finally clicked for me why folks get so worked up about the scaling.

Drew, come on. Is it really that serious? Sure, an inch off sounds bad, but a lot of times folks blame the print when the real issue is their measuring tape or a wall that's not even square to begin with. I've seen guys reprint stuff three times when the problem was just a crooked floor or a poorly drawn plan. Not saying your kitchen thing wasn't a pain, but one bad job doesn't mean every millimeter is life or death. Most people hanging a picture or slapping up a poster aren't going to notice a hair. Feels like some folks just need an excuse to freak out over a piece of paper.
