Visited a friend's place in Austin and saw their painted concrete floors
I always thought concrete floors in a house would feel cold and look like a garage. But they used a stain and sealer kit from a local hardware store, and it looked amazing, like polished stone. The whole job only cost them about $400 for their living room and kitchen. Has anyone here done a concrete floor finish themselves and have tips on keeping it from getting slippery?

I get what you're saying about the grit for polish, but in my experience, the sealer is the real key for slip resistance. A high gloss finish will be slick when wet no matter what. I used a matte sealer with some grit added right into the mix on my porch floor. It's way safer when it rains and still looks good. The polish level matters less than the top coat you choose.

That stain and sealer combo sounds great. What specific grit did they use in the final polish to keep it from getting too slick?
