Serious question, is painting trim before installing it really the best way?

A client in Seattle last month said my crew's method of installing trim then painting it on-site was 'asking for a mess' and showed me their own flawless results from a garage paint booth. We switched to pre-painting for the next job, and honestly, the clean-up time was cut in half. Has anyone else made this switch and found a better sealer than basic latex?

That "asking for a mess" line is dead on. It's like a lot of jobs where doing the prep work right seems slower, but actually saves a ton of time fixing mistakes later. You see it everywhere once you start looking for it.
