Why does every rainstorm turn my driveway into a mini lake?

I've tried fixing the slope twice, but water still pools in the same spot every time.

My neighbor's yard does the same thing. He ended up putting in a small trench drain along the side.

Actually, sometimes a little standing water isn't the end of the world and digging up the yard again seems like overkill. Taraanderson's neighbor went to all that trouble for a trench, but maybe the real fix is just learning to live with a puddle for a few hours. Nature finds a way to do its thing no matter how much we fight it.
