Took me 5 hours to sketch a coffee mug that I could have drawn in 2 minutes

I kept trying to make this stupid mug perfect. Started with a simple doodle on a sticky note during a meeting. Then I redrew it like 8 times because the shadow spacing was off. Lol. Ended up spending the whole afternoon erasing and redoing this one 2 inch drawing. My desk looked like a confetti bomb went off from all the scrap paper. Has anyone else gotten stuck on the simplest thing for way too long?

Yeah that "avoiding something else" angle hits close to home for me. Next time just set a timer for 10 minutes on the mug and force yourself to move on no matter what.

Wonder if you were actually avoiding something else you needed to do that day. Sometimes my brain picks a pointless task just so I don't have to think about the real work.

Guarantee @grantf73 has never gotten stuck reorganizing a sock drawer before a deadline though. Guess my brain just likes to pick the weirdest possible detours.
