My bathroom floor tile job cracked after the first cold snap

I laid down that new porcelain tile myself about three months ago, right before fall. Used a standard thin-set mortar from the big orange store, followed the bag directions to the letter. Woke up yesterday morning and there's a hairline crack running right through the center of the floor. I'm guessing I didn't leave a big enough expansion gap at the edges when it contracted in the cold. What's the best way to fix this without pulling the whole floor up?

Robert's epoxy trick works. Just make sure your floor is bone dry first.

You're right about the expansion gap. I had the same thing happen in my mudroom. I used a color matched epoxy grout to fill the crack, let it cure, then sealed the whole floor. It's held for two winters now. You'll still see the line if you look for it, but it stopped it from getting worse.

Glad that fix held up for you. Epoxy's tough stuff once it sets. Good call on the color match too.
