Slept in a hostel for 2 months, then dropped $40 a night on a private room

Honestly, I used to think hostels were the only way to keep my budget alive while bouncing around Lisbon and Barcelona. For like 8 weeks straight I dealt with snoring, 6 AM checkout lines, and someone's soggy towel on my bunk. Then I hit a breaking point after three nights of no sleep before a client call, so I booked a private room in a shared apartment for $40 a night. Tbh, the extra cost was nothing compared to actually being able to think, and now I only do hostels if it's under 2 nights. Anyone else trade savings for sanity when remote work gets real?

Used to be all about saving cash, but you sold me on sleep.

Sleep is nice and all, but you could just buy a cheap mattress and call it a day, right?
