The unsubscribe button I ignored for 3 years finally got me

My buddy Dave kept telling me to just unsubscribe from promo emails instead of deleting them one by one. I thought it was a waste of time, like why bother when I can just swipe them away. Then last week I counted and I had 1,400 unread emails in my inbox, mostly sales junk from stores I shopped at once in 2021. I sat down with a coffee and spent 45 minutes hitting unsubscribe on every single one, using that Unroll.me thing he mentioned. Three days later my inbox went from 1,400 to maybe 50 real emails, and I actually opened my phone to check mail without feeling sick. Now I'm wondering if I should do the same for my spam folder or if that's just asking for trouble. Anyone else try a bulk unsubscribe tool and find it worked better than they expected?

Watching my unread count drop that fast actually made me realize I was hoarding emails like they were some kind of proof of life.
