Bought a $200 "photo backup drive" that lost all my 2023 pics

Back in March I grabbed this sleek external SSD from a Best Buy in Chicago because it promised automatic cloud sync. Turns out the sync only worked if the app was open, and it silently skipped every file over 2GB. Lost about 14 months of concert photos and random dog videos before I noticed, the drive itself was fine but the software was pure garbage. Anyone else get burned by a storage gadget that seemed smarter than it actually was?

Honestly, I used to think backup drives were bulletproof, but this totally changed my mind. Ngl, now I'm double checking mine before tax season.
