Three hours to fix a simple layer blend issue...

I spent almost 4 hours yesterday trying to figure out why my shading layers looked all muddy and flat. Turned out I had my layer blend mode set to 'multiply' instead of 'overlay' the whole time. I literally changed one setting and the whole piece popped like I wanted it to from the start. Felt pretty dumb but also relieved it wasn't something more complicated. Anyone else ever catch a tiny setting mistake that cost them way too much time?

Multiply instead of overlay... man that's a rough one. I've definitely sat there staring at a muddy mess for way too long only to find out it was something that simple. It's like the program is messing with you sometimes, hiding these tiny switches that change everything. At least you found it in four hours, I had a similar thing once where I had the wrong brush opacity locked for like, three days. The relief when you click that one button and it all looks right is honestly the best feeling though.

Four hours is nothing, I spent a whole weekend once trying to figure out why my shadows looked like garbage. Turned out I had the layer set to 'screen' instead of 'multiply'. Just sat there feeling like an idiot for two days straight.
