My old tablet pen setup felt fine until a student told me to try theirs
I've been doing digital art since my first Wacom Bamboo back in 2012, and I never thought much about my stylus grip or nibs. Last week at the community studio, a 19 year old handed me her tablet pen and said 'you're pressing way too hard, that's why your hand cramps by hour two.' She was right, my strokes looked scratchy and I always had to zoom in 300 percent to clean up wobbles. I switched to a lighter touch with her pen and now I'm reworking a piece I started back in March, it feels like a whole different tool but it's just me changing my hand. Anyone else had a younger artist casually point out a habit you've kept for over a decade?
Wait, a teenager figured out in five minutes what you've been doing wrong for 11 years?
Tbh, that's kinda humbling but also amazing. I bet your hand feels like a new person now.
