I saw a digital art show in Seattle that made me stop using filters on my work
The artist, Maya Chen, had a piece that was just raw, unedited brush strokes in Procreate... it had more feeling than any polished piece there. Anyone else feel like we over-edit our art sometimes?

My Seattle gallery rule is one filter max now.

Why limit it to one? Some photos need a whole stack. A faded film look on top of a color shift, then a texture overlay. That's how you build a mood you can't get in one click. It's like saying a painter can only use one brush.

I get what you're saying about building a mood, but calling it a "faded film look on top of a color shift" is just describing one filter. A real film stack is like a physical scratch, then a color cast from bad development, then a light leak. Most apps just bake that into one vintage preset. The true stack is way more niche and messy.
