Decided between a drawing tablet and a used iPad, got the tablet
I've been saving for months to upgrade my setup. Last week I finally had $400 to spend. The iPad would let me draw on the go, but the tablet had better pressure sensitivity for the price. I picked the Wacom tablet and hooked it up Thursday night. The learning curve is real, my lines looked shaky for two days. But after about 30 layers of practice, the strokes feel more natural than my old mouse art. Anyone else regret skipping the portable option for the desktop one?

I did the exact same thing two years ago with a Intuos Pro and felt the regret for about a week. Then I realized I never actually draw anywhere but my desk anyway, so the portability was just a nice idea in my head. The pressure sensitivity difference is real though, especially when you're doing line work or shading. Give it another week or two before you judge it, your hand just needs to unlearn the mouse movements. I still think about the iPad sometimes but my tablet has been solid for way longer than I expected.
