Worst week I've ever had on a Cummins ISX rebuild

Last Tuesday I was pulling a head on a 2014 ISX at a shop off I-35 in San Antonio. Snapped a head bolt at 120 ft-lbs and had to drill it out for 6 hours. Then on Thursday the customer came back saying it was smoking white - turned out a injector cup seal was bad from the factory. Has anyone else had luck with the Chinese injector cups or should I stick with OEM only?

Man oh man does that bring back a memory. A buddy of mine tried those Chinese injector cups on a rebuild last fall and it was a nightmare. He had a 2015 ISX that started puking fuel out the exhaust after 200 miles, turned out the cup seal was already splitting at the lip. He spent a whole weekend tearing it back down and had to order OEM cups anyway, plus a new set of gaskets. I told him to just stick with OEM from the start but he was trying to save like forty bucks. Now he swears by factory parts on anything fuel related, says the Chinese ones are just not worth the headache.

Oh man, the whole "save forty bucks" trap gets everyone at least once lol. I had a similar deal with a buddy who tried those no-name glow plugs on a 6.7 Powerstroke and they snapped off in the head after 150 miles. Cost him way more in machine shop time than the OEM ones would have been. Some stuff you just can't shortcut no matter how tempting the price is, especially when it involves high pressure fuel or anything that sees heat cycles.
