That broker who tried to sell me on Corktown like it was Silicon Valley
Met this guy Dave at a showing on Michigan Ave last month. He kept going on about how Corktown was the next big tech hub, pointing at a single coffee shop and an empty lot. I told him I been watching Detroit real estate for 8 years and that same lot was gonna be a boutique hotel back in '17. He had no clue what I was talking about. Anyone else run into brokers who just read the headlines and don't know the actual history?

Eight years watching and that guy didn't even know about the boutique hotel that never happened?

Double down on what @the_nathan said about that ghost hotel. I swear that guy still thinks the building is going up any day now, he probably checks the weather for the grand opening every morning. Meanwhile that lot has turned into a pigeon convention with a side of stray cat meetings. The coffee shop he's hyped about is just a boarded up storefront with a faded sign. Honestly its kind of impressive how long he can hold onto hope for NOTHING.

Bet you could set your watch by how long it took him to finally realize that place was never gonna break ground. Eight years and he's still waiting for a hotel that existed only in some developer's dream and a few fancy renderings. At this point he should just start charging rent to the ghosts living on that empty lot. Maybe next decade he'll figure out the coffee shop that's "coming soon" is also a myth.
