I put a small coffee shop in a former Corktown auto garage and it's packed

We took a risk on a 1,200 square foot space on Michigan Avenue that used to be a mechanic's bay. I thought the industrial feel might be a tough sell for a cafe, but we kept the original brick and garage doors. Now, we're doing double the sales we projected because people love the unique setting. Has anyone else seen a trend where old industrial spaces are outperforming newer retail spots in certain neighborhoods?

Totally agree, and @jordan903 is right about keeping the original features! Our spot in an old print shop has the same vibe and it's always busy.

Yeah we kept the old factory floors in ours and people dig it.
