Rant: Took me 30 years to realize I was stocking the freezer wrong
I always put new groceries in the front. Figured grab the old stuff first. But last week I pulled out a bag of peas from the back. Dated 2019. That's when it clicked. I was burying my own food. Now I rotate everything. New in back, old up front. Simple but I felt like an idiot. Anyone else have a grocery habit they were blind to?

Wait, isn't that what I'm supposed to do though?

And you're right, that's exactly the point. @scott.drew figuring that out saved my peppers last year when I finally gave in and mulched after years of thinking it was just for looks.

Last year I was out on my porch trying to get my tomatoes to grow in those cheap plastic pots, and I figured mulch was just for looks. But after I put a thick layer down around the plants, the soil stayed way cooler and I barely had to water them all summer. It completely changed my mind about it being pointless work. Now I see it's actually about keeping moisture in and weeds out, not just making things tidy.
