My dad asked me why I bother with all the price tracking apps
We were in his garage last weekend, and he was fixing an old lamp he bought for two bucks at a yard sale in 1992. I told him I'd just set an alert for a new one online. He just shook his head and said, 'Son, sometimes the deal isn't the price, it's the thing that lasts thirty years.' It made me think about how I chase a 15% discount on stuff that breaks in a year. Anyone else find themselves buying for the short term just because the app says it's on sale?

A lamp from 1992 for two bucks is the real deal.

Turn off those price alerts for a week and see what happens. I stopped and realized I was just buying junk because it was cheap. Your dad's got a point about things that last.

Yeah, your dad's right. I started asking myself "will I care about this in five years" before I buy anything now. Cuts out a lot of the noise.
