My brother convinced me that buying in bulk isn't always the best deal

We were at Costco and I was grabbing a huge pack of paper towels, but he pointed out the unit price was actually higher than the 4-pack at my local grocery store on sale. I'd always assumed bigger = cheaper, but now I check the price per sheet every time. Anyone else find that 'bulk' deals can sometimes be a rip-off?

Absolutely, they bank on that bigger box mentality. Saw it with laundry pods last week. The giant container had a higher price per pod than the medium one. It's sneaky. You have to do the math every single time.

The unit price tags are a lifesaver, but sometimes the sale price at regular stores beats them.

I used to grab the biggest package of trash bags without looking. Then I saw the 30-count was actually more per bag than the 20-count right next to it. Now I always check that little price-per-unit label.
