Appreciation post: my grocery store cashier saved me $60 by pointing out I was buying the wrong size eggs
I've been grabbing the 18-count carton of eggs for months without even looking at the price. Then last Tuesday at Meijer this cashier named Diane just looks at me and goes "honey, the 36-count is only $4.80 more and you're paying $7.40 for half as many." I felt like an idiot (I mean she was totally right). Now I check the unit price on everything before I grab it. Has anyone else had a random stranger or worker save them money just by saying something quick?

Diane sounds like she saved you from the "egg-xistential crisis" of overpaying for tiny cartons.

Is it really an "overpay" situation though @cole356? Those tiny egg cartons from local producers usually mean the birds were actually outside and treated decently, which costs more to do. You can always find cheaper eggs at the store, but you're usually getting way less for your dollar in terms of how the animal lived.
