Showerthought: spent 2 years tying my running shoes wrong and a 9 year old at the park pointed it out
I was lacing up before a jog at Memorial Park last Saturday when this kid on the bench just stares at my feet and goes "you know those go under the other lace, right?" I laughed it off, then tried it on my other shoe and wow, zero heel slip for the first time ever. Turns out I had been doing the bunny ear thing all backwards since like 2019, and that's why my left heel always rubbed. Ran 3 miles with no blisters and honestly that felt like winning a medal. Anybody else get basic life advice from a stranger under 10 years old?
Kids see stuff we stopped looking at years ago. We get so used to our own routine that we quit asking if it even works. Same thing happened to me with how I hold a pen, some lady at the DMV watched me sign a form and said I was doing it the hard way. Tried her grip and my hand didn't cramp up for once. Half the stuff we do every day is just habit we never checked.
