My entire route's mail got soaked in a surprise thunderstorm this morning
I was about halfway through my deliveries in the Maplewood neighborhood when the sky just opened up... no warning at all. The mail in my satchel, and the bundles in the truck, got completely drenched before I could get the covers on. I had to drive back to the station, spend an hour carefully drying out every single piece with paper towels and a fan, then re-sort it all. Has anyone else had to salvage a whole day's worth of wet mail and have any better tricks?

Honestly I'd just deliver it wet, let people deal with it. It's just paper, it'll dry. @carr.elliot is overcomplicating things with hair dryers.

That sounds like a brutal day. Honestly, the worst part is the ink running and making addresses unreadable. A hair dryer on low heat can help with the really soggy ones without cooking them.
