Vent: My cat has been training me for years and I just figured it out.
He always meows at the pantry door around 4 PM. Thought he was hungry. Yesterday I saw him stare at the door, then at me, then back at the door, and I realized he just wants me to open it so he can sit in the cool, dark space. He doesn't even go for the food. Anyone else's pet have a weird ritual they tricked you into doing?

My cat's done that for a decade, honestly it's not a big deal.

Yeah, it's just part of having a cat sometimes. Mine does the same thing with knocking glasses off the kitchen counter. You just learn to live with it and put the breakable stuff away. After a while it's more of a habit than a real problem. They have their little quirks and that's just how it is.

Actually it can become a real problem if you have nice things. My friend's cat broke a set of expensive wine glasses that were a gift, and it caused a huge fight. Just accepting the behavior means you can never have anything fragile out, which isn't fair. It's not a cute quirk, it's expensive and annoying.
