My cat tried to become a ceiling fan inspector today

Honestly, I was just trying to eat my cereal this morning when I heard a weird thump from the living room. I walk in and my orange tabby, Gus, is halfway up the curtains, about six feet off the ground, just staring at the ceiling fan. He must have seen a dust bunny or a fly up there. He does this little chirp, leaps from the curtain rod, and lands right on one of the fan blades. The whole thing wobbled like crazy. I yelled 'Gus, no!' but he just rode it for a full rotation, looking totally pleased with himself, before jumping down onto the couch. My heart was pounding. He just stretched and walked off like he'd completed a very important mission. Has anyone else's pet decided to test the structural integrity of your home appliances?

Nah, I think Gus was just doing quality control. Susanm56 is being too careful, those fan blades are tougher than they look. My old cat used the ceiling fan as a jungle gym all the time and it's still fine.

Oh my goodness, that must have been a sight. I have to say though, I'm a little worried about your fan blade. Those things aren't really made to hold weight, especially a sudden pounce from a cat. Mine got a little bent just from a heavy pull chain. Maybe give it a good check to make sure it's not loose or cracked, you don't want it coming down later. Gus sounds like a real character, my old tomcat used to try and climb the window screens to get at birds.

Wait you had a fan blade bend from a pull chain? That's wild. Honestly I never would have thought something that light could do damage. I'm definitely gonna go check mine now.
