The 5-minute timer trick for doodles actually broke my block
I always freeze up when I sit down to draw, staring at a blank page for way too long. Yesterday I set a timer for exactly 5 minutes and forced myself to finish a sketch of my coffee mug before it went off. The drawing is messy and the handle looks weird, but I ended up doing 4 more doodles after that because I wasn't overthinking anymore. Has anyone else tried a short time limit to loosen up their hand?

Used to think timed stuff was a gimmick but tried it after seeing this and yeah it really shuts up the inner critic somehow.

Timed stuff feels like tricking your brain into thinking you're on a deadline for no reason. It works because you stop overthinking and just start doing the thing badly enough to finish. Makes you wonder how many other productivity hacks are actually just mental games, right?
