That sketchbook I left on the bus in Portland, cautionary tale
I had 30 days of quick doodles in that cheap spiral notebook, and someone turned it into the lost and found without my name on it, so it's gone forever. Now I write my phone number on the inside cover of every sketchbook before I even draw the first line, has anyone else lost a whole month of drawings that way?

...and honestly that's exactly what happened to my friend Dana back in 2017. She had this whole moleskine full of little ink sketches from a cross country train trip, every day for like six weeks, and she left it in a diner booth somewhere outside Chicago. She was so mad at herself she didn't draw for almost a year after, which was wild because she used to doodle on everything, even napkins. Now she puts her email on the first page with a tiny smiley face, but she still brings it up every time someone mentions losing something, like it's a ghost that haunts her.
