Why does nobody talk about weighing your coffee beans instead of scooping them
I used a scoop for my coffee for almost 4 years and always wondered why some mornings it tasted great and other mornings it tasted like hot dirt. Then my sister gave me a cheap $12 kitchen scale for my birthday in March and I finally weighed my beans for the first time. Same beans, same grinder, same water, and the cup was wildly better because my scoop was giving me anywhere from 12 to 22 grams depending on how heaped it was. I felt like a total fool standing in my kitchen at 6am realizing I had been guessing my dose every single morning for years. Now I do 18 grams of coffee to 300 grams of water and it hits the same every time, no more mystery cups. If your coffee is hit or miss and you scoop it, that is probably your problem and it costs less than a bag of beans to fix. Anyone else have a moment like this where a cheap tool made you realize you were just winging it the whole time?
