My neighbor laughed at my dad joke, then stole it for his presentation

Last Thursday at the neighborhood watch meeting, I told a pun about fences and punchlines, and the guy next door used it word for word in his slide deck on property lines. Nobody laughed when he said it, and I could tell he was steaming. Has anyone else had their material swiped, and how do you call it out without starting a feud?

Man, that's a classic move. If it bombed for him, that means the joke only worked because of your timing and delivery. My take is you should just let it go, but next time he's around, tell that same joke to someone else on purpose and make sure he hears it. Then when it lands, give him a little nod and a wink. He'll know you know, and it'll be way more embarrassing for him than if you called him out in front of the whole group. Plus, nobody wants to start a war over a fence pun.
